Welcome to February's addition of Tell Me a Story, the blog circle where each photographer shows a small glimpse into their lives that month.
This month we had Family Day in Ontario which meant a three-day weekend. Because the weather has been less than favourable for outside activities, we decided to make a fun trip to the Canadian Museum of Nature.
We've been visiting the museum pretty much every year since our oldest was a baby. Every time we come there seems to be something new for the girls to see or do. Plus, I love the exhibits as well, not to mention the beautiful, old building it's in. Unfortunately I didn't get a chance to take any detailed pictures of the building itself (it was pretty cold), but you enter through gorgeous old wooden doors, there's stone carvings of animals on the walls and stain glass in the windows. As well, they've added a modern glass atrium to the front which is stunning.
When you drive up to the parking lot, there's already surprises waiting for you. How many other places do you get to see dinosaurs in the city?
And inside the dinosaurs continue, both in re-creations and fossil form.
The girls loved learning about the dinosaurs, however, I must say, some of them were pretty creepy, even with just the bones.
I'm not sure if feathered dinosaurs are better or worse?
My favourite shot of the day. There was just a moment of about 30 seconds when they were the only ones in this space.
We all enjoyed the Water exhibits. These tropical guys had us longing for warmer weather.
The museum has an area with all kinds of amphibians and insects, including frogs, toads, tarantulas, stick insects, cockroaches and these industrious ants. I tried to take a shot of the black widow spider, but couldn't find it in the display. I wondered if I should be worried. ;)
The museum with all it's displays and exhibits always gets me to thinking who's watching who?
Once again, we loved our visit to the Canadian Museum of Nature. Every thing about it is awesome. Even the artwork in the basement lobby is cool.
Don't forget to continue the blog circle and check out Julie's story at moregirlsthanboys.
Such an awesome day! My absolute favorites are the ones with your girl sitting and going through the exhibits with her lovie! These are priceless!
