Kilts, pink hair, a vintage-designed wedding dress, folk music, a hand embroidered wedding veil from the 1800s worn by 18 brides in the family, a little white church on the edge of a lake, a six pence taped in the bride's shoe, a butterfly from the groom's mom's dress, a cake topper drawn by the mother-of-the-bride, buried bourbon, tequila under the bride's chair, and a cat named Trevor.
Could this wedding have been any better? I really think not. I give you Tyler and Liz's wedding. While the bourbon had been buried under a tree at their house in order to ward off rain for their outdoor ceremony at the home they'd built together, Mother Nature had other plans. Instead gentle rain fell at Owl Hill, but it did nothing to damper the celebrations of the day.
The scrapbook was a gift to Liz from her bridesmaids.
A lover of books, Liz gifted all her girls with books specifically chosen for them.
Love the touch of pink hair. I think it's great when brides let a bit of quirkiness into their day.
A hug from Dad at first sight.
This butterfly was on Tyler's mom's dress. What a lovely touch.
Getting the veil just right.
So many happy tears.
Hanging out before the fun starts. On the left, Tyler's brother-in-law. He acted as DJ and managed one of the best party's we've been to in a while. On the left, the best man who gave one of the funniest speeches I've heard at a wedding.
Some dapper looking gents.
Tyler had the biggest smile all day long. He was one happy groom.
Moments before leaving for the church, Liz had some quiet moments with Trevor, their cat. It didn't seem right not to get him in a few photographs.
Moments before first sight.
Yes, it was funny. :)
MARRIED!
The car, driven by Liz's brother and sister-in-law, was equipped with champagne and Pringles for after ceremony fun back at their house. What more could you ask for?
The rain let up after the ceremony and we were able to get outside. My favourite part of the day was this impromptu dancing on their back deck.
There may not have been any lemonade, but it was too cute not to get a couple photos with.
And then they dug up the bourbon. It may not have stopped the rain, but at least it could be used for the party.
Checking to make sure it's still good. ;)
Cheers!
Favourite photograph of the day. Liz looks soo happy!
The decor at their reception was all styled by Tyler's mom. It was fantastic!
Cake topper courtesy of Liz's mom.
Tyler's mom read part of a letter she'd written to him on the day he was born and then presented it to him as a gift. She wasn't the only one crying over that one.
Hmm, Volume 1 of 7? Not sure if you should be worried Tyler?
And the tequila made an appearance.
Tyler and Liz's guests knew how to party. The music was thumping and the people were dancing until the wee hours of the morning.
Check out Liz's brother's shirt? They may have gotten a bit bigger.
