This was our Sunday.
Saturdays are always a blur in our house. While I like to try to sleep in until at least 8 am, which is usually facilitated by the fact that my loving husband will get up with our girls when they get up around 6-7 am. But after this slow(er) start, the day kicks into full gear. It's gymnastics and groceries and errands followed by lunch and yard/house work. And somewhere in there we (hopefully) slip in a nap. And before you know it the day is coming to an end.
But Sundays are completely different. Generally nothing is planned or booked and the day is open for adventure.
On a Sunday a couple weeks ago, we headed up towards Ottawa to a pretty town called Manotick. I was picking up a new camera (♥ my new D700) and we decided to swing around the Third World Bazaar while we were in the area.
The Third World Bazaar is a family business that purchases products from the developing world (most directly from the artisans and craftsmen) and sells them directly to consumers in the Ottawa area. It is only open for a six week period every year, so we figured we'd swing around because it's been a couple years since we'd been there.
Everything is in a large barn, which is fun. Here's the entrance.
There's all kinds of different things inside and out, exotic and interesting home decor, garden things, musical instruments, art, and furniture. I especially liked these guys.
This Marilyn Monroe picture really caught my eye. I loved the "Bali Babes" dancing in front of her.
The juxtaposition of the different items adds to the fun of the bazaar, from colourful, comical fish to skull sticks.
After we finished up at the bazaar, we slipped in one of those glorious naps. When the girls woke up we headed outside. Daddy wanted to rack up some leaves, the girls wanted to play in them and I wanted to take my new camera for a test run. You can tell who got the bad end of the deal. Sorry Daddy.
She's obsessed with collecting leaves this year. We've had leaves in vases in the house ever since the first ones started falling from the trees.
Her sister was much more interested in jumping into them. I have to say she sure knows how to do it right.
Daddy did get some help...
... for a little bit that was. And then it was pretending they were sledding. I'm not sure if I want to be thinking about sledding on snow yet though.
And this is what happens when you sit in the leaves while Daddy is still racking them up.
All in all it I'd say it was a pretty good Sunday. :)
