Tell Me a Story | July 2014 | Kingston & Brockville, Ontario Family Photographer

Thursday, 31 July 2014

The saying goes that "life is better at the lake" and I have to agree. I spent countless childhood days swimming, lying in the sun, playing in the sand, fishing and out in a boat. I cherish these memories.

The allure of the lake hasn't worn off either. There is still nothing better than spending a beautiful, sunny day on the water. The sound of the soft, lapping waves; the the smell of the pines and coolness of the water are magical.

I love the fact that this is something we get to share with our girls and hopefully create memories they will hold onto for years and years.

For this month's Tell Me a Story blog circle, I wanted to capture some of our time spent on the water out in Nana and Poppa's boat. It just also happened to be the first time we got the girls out on the tube. Looking at these photographs I can almost feel the lake air again.

A Nursing Session | Kingston & Brockville, Ontario Family Photographer

Monday, 7 July 2014

"Some things are so precious because they don't last long."
- Oscar Wilde

I've been wanting to do a nursing session since the first time I saw images of them by other photographers. They seemed so beautiful, natural and innocent. They showcased just how special the bond between a mother and child is.

I think it's wonderful that nursing photography (both professional and amateur) is starting to be seen more and more often. Today even did an article on nursing pride and breastfeeding selfies the other day. You can check it out here.

I was overjoyed when I asked my sister-in-law if she'd be my subject (yet again) with my nephew and she agreed.

In a matter of 15 minutes we had these lovely photographs (and one milk-drunk baby).
